EMME is designed to minimize what participants learn about one another's starting locations. A shared plan displays a broader area label and deliberately approximate map marker rather than an exact street address. For private collaboration, a participant enters their location in an isolated invitation flow. The exact validated address and route coordinates are encrypted for route calculation, and other participants receive only derived information such as a suggested meeting area, travel summaries, and verified venue options. EMME does not sell exact origin data, build advertising profiles from travel patterns, or give venues access to a participant's private address. A private invitation is single-use, can expire, can be revoked before redemption, and is not placed in the URL query string. EMME's protected service and maps provider must process an exact location to geocode it and calculate routes; this is not a zero-knowledge service. People should still use judgment when choosing a public meetup and should avoid entering information they do not want a planning service to process.
